FAQ

  • How does Transformational Coaching differ from other types of coaching?

Transformational Coaching differs from other types of coaching by focusing on profound personal growth and inner transformation rather than just achieving specific goals. It emphasizes aligning actions with core values and aspirations, fostering deep self-awareness, and encouraging significant shifts in perspective and behavior. Unlike other forms of coaching that may concentrate on skill development or performance enhancement, Transformational Coaching seeks to fundamentally change how individuals view themselves and their potential.

  • How does coaching differ from psychotherapy?

Coaching differs from psychotherapy in that it focuses on empowering individuals to achieve profound personal and professional growth by aligning their actions with their core values and aspirations. It is goal-oriented, future-focused, and emphasizes self-discovery, action planning, and personal development. In contrast, psychotherapy aims to heal emotional and psychological issues by exploring past experiences and their impact on current behavior. While coaching is typically shorter-term and centered on achieving specific transformational goals, psychotherapy can be longer-term and addresses a wide range of mental health issues.

  • Is what we talk about confidential

Coaching should be a safe space for you to learn more about yourself and work toward a set of goals that you’ve established. That being said, there are a few instances in which what is discussed is not confidential. For safety reasons, this includes: reports of abuse and/or neglect of children, elderly, and people with disabilities and plans to harm yourself and/or plans to harm someone else.

  • How often will we meet?

In general, weekly 1:1 coaching is recommended in order to make consistent progress toward your goals. Especially at the beginning of our coaching alliance, it is helpful for us to meet weekly in order to build rapport and understand the breadth of who you are and what you want to work on. Together, we will determine if it’s appropriate to continue meeting weekly or transition to a less frequent recurring appointment.
